Samsung Announces Series 7 LCD TV

Berlin, Germany, August 29, 2008 - With its new Series 7 Full HD LCD and Plasma TVs, Samsung Electronics offers its most compelling window yet into the future of TV technology. This new premium lineup shares the same material and crystal design innovation of series 6 while setting a new standard for Media Solution and multimedia home entertainment.

Series 7 is filled with the type of innovative features and advancements required by the industry’s most tech-savvy consumers who enjoy a range of self-created or downloaded multimedia content as well as Media Solution with HD peripheral devices.

Recognizing that TVs are no longer just for viewing broadcasts, Samsung has installed Media Solution features such as the USB connection, through which users can instantly enjoy their photos, downloaded content, and User Created Contents. Also, the Content Library organizes a variety of stored information and games, while the innovative InfoLive feature brings informative content feeds to the TV, enabling users to quickly scroll through news, weather and stock quotes in real time (available in some countries).

InfoLive has been made possible by a partnership between Samsung and Yahoo! wherein Yahoo! shall deliver informative content feeds from select content providers to the television via Samsung’s InfoLive service. The InfoLive service shall provide news, weather and finance information to select Samsung TVs. Samsung plans to provide its InfoLive service on Series 7 TVs in select countries in Europe, Canada, Australia and Singapore by the end of 2008.

With the TVs’ upgraded WiseLink Pro feature, users can take advantage of a fast USB 2.0 connection to quickly and easily watch video content downloaded from the internet. And DLNA certification allows for complete wireless or hardwired sharing between all of the AV and IT devices in your house, such as mobile phones, PCs, and printers.

The hallmark of the Series 7 is its ease of use and connectivity. All the units in the series come installed with Samsung’s Smart Content Management and new User Interface, which allow viewers to rapidly shuffle between content loaded into the unit’s built-in flash memory.

All models in the series surpass the high standards for HDTV picture quality that consumers have come to expect from Samsung, utilizing Samsung’s most recent technological innovations to pump out full 1920*1080p resolution with incredibly precise pictures and deep contrasts.

The three PDP models (50, 58, 63 inches) in Series 7 are outfitted with Real 100 Hz technology to significantly reduce blur in fast moving images. They also feature Samsung’s revolutionary Ultra Bright Filter 2, which provides startling dynamic contrasts ratios of 1,000,000:1 to produce deeper blacks and richer colors.

In the LCD range (40, 46, and 52 inches), the new Ultra Clear Panel works to reduce glare and reflection in even the brightest rooms, further helping the unit to render even the most minute detail with accuracy. The Series 7 also rolls out with the company’s new Wide Color Enhancer 2 which reprocesses reds, blues and greens to produce the most natural and vibrant colors available.

Gamers and movie lovers will value the wider frequency of sound provided by the Series 7’s new Down Firing Speakers and separate subwoofer. Sports enthusiasts will also appreciate the unit’s Sports Mode. With the click of a button, the picture and sound can be optimized for watching action on the field.

In addition to the great pictures, the Media solution features in the Series 7 TVs mark a paradigm shift in the industry away from ordinary and simple TVs to fill the ever-growing consumer demand for multifunctional entertainment units that gather and utilize all the technology of the household.
